Nailsea Sixth Form is a vibrant learning community with an inclusive ethos, offering a range of Level 3 courses alongside an extensive pastoral and enrichment programme. We are proud of the high standards of teaching and learning that our students experience from subject specialists in excellent facilities, however we also place great emphasis on developing the holistic student, seeking to support our learners in their journey towards becoming well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to our local community and wider society.

Aspirational Learners

Our Sixth Form is committed to developing aspirational learners, providing students with the opportunity to explore subject content beyond the curriculum through our termly Aim Higher tasks, showing a passion for the subjects that they are studying alongside a curiosity for learning. We encourage students to engage in our Aspire and HE+ Programmes, supporting applications to competitive institutions and preparing students for admissions tests and interviews. Students also research ambitious work experience opportunities to further develop career related skills and attributes, leading to our successful Pathways Week towards the end of Year 12.

Independent Thinkers

At Nailsea we are passionate about empowering students to embrace our mantra ‘your journey, your future’. We collaborate with students to develop valuable leadership skills, encouraging them to become fully independent in their  academic ambitions. Our weekly VESPA Programme enhances students’ Key Stage 5 study skills and learning characteristics which develops their A level mindset. We take the time to explore all available options so that well informed decisions can be discussed and explored, supported by trips to university and apprenticeship fairs and open days.

Community Ambassadors

Our 360° Enrichment Programme is designed to spark the curiosity to pursue areas of interest that will aid students’ holistic development and benefit their future life choices. Students select from our broad and balanced enrichment offer at three points across the year, giving them the opportunity to pursue diverse areas of interest that support their wellbeing or future career options. Year 12 students also take on a Community Ambassador role, volunteering within the school or local community through our extra-curricular programme or personally organised placements. The Sixth Form Prefect team organise the whole school student council, mentoring our lower school House Captains to make a positive change within the wider school community.

Following their time at Nailsea Sixth Form, students are well-equipped with the skills, experience and qualifications to succeed. Every year we have students who decide to continue their learning in higher education, apprenticeship programmes and employment, with many of these joining competitive universities or national organisations.

Thank you for taking the time to consider Nailsea Sixth Form.
