Wessex Learning Trust
The Hive and Bridge are the two areas of Internal Alternative Provision at Nailsea School and Sixth Form. The provision is designed to offer a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Nailsea School students who are experiencing specific barriers to learning in two key areas
The Hive: students who are struggling to attend school regularly for a number of reasons, linked to emotional wellbeing and/or medical issues
The Bridge: students who are struggling to succeed in full time mainstream class sizes linked to behaviour and could be at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion from school
By combining academic classes taught in small groups and a bespoke timetable that includes targeted interventions to support SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) we can support students to hopefully integrate back into the mainstream.
Students are referred to either provision as part of the school’s graduated response and can be based there for a set period of time or dedicated blocks of times/lessons.
The Hive and Bridge students access a bespoke timetable, confirmed with families once the referral to the provision has been made. This will involve students studying the core subjects of English, Maths and Science as well as a series of other interventions based around need which could include cooking, additional sport and outdoor education opportunities.
Regular updates and reviews are provided by the dedicated staff within the provision.
