Students : Curriculum : Sport - BTEC National

BTEC National Sport aims to provide candidates with specialised work-related qualifications in a range of sports sectors.  The course is comprised of modules, some compulsory, others are optional.  Compulsory modules provide candidates with a grounding in physiological, psychological and social aspects.  Optional modules include:

  • The Professional Sports Person
  • Training and Fitness
  • Principles of Coaching

The course could be combined with A Levels or retakes to provide a full portfolio of qualifications.  The nature of BTEC Sport develops individual learners who take responsibility for their own learning and achievement.  This is dependent on the candidates input into the course.  An award, certificate or diploma qualifications is available.

Assessment

Candidates are continually assessed and will be required to collect evidence and demonstrate their understanding.  Assessment methods use:

  • observational
  • practical
  • oral/written presentations
  • coaching and leadership
  • work experience and
  • role play.
