Sixth Form : UCAS
Advice to Sixth Formers
After the trips we expect you to be researching hard: mostly what do you want to study, but also where do you want to study.

In term 6, once the AS exams are out of the way, you will have then opportunity to set up your UCAS application form on the web, and to write the first draft of your personal statement with your tutor. We would then expect you to finish choosing your courses, complete a second draft of your personal statement, and fill in the basics on the UCAS form over the summer holidays.
It is to your advantage to get the form in as early as possible; universities begin making offers as soon as they receive your form, they do not wait until the UCAS deadline.
If you are thinking of taking a GAP YEAR apply anyway, but defer. Click here for a database of gap year organisations.
Careers
Even if you do intend to go to university, it is worth while doing some careers research: what jobs might your degree take you to? What might it rule you out of? And, if you do have a clear careers aim, will your degree course help you get there?
