Sixth Form : Intro
Organisation and support for Students
The Sixth Form is led by a Head of Sixth and an Assistant. A member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team has oversight of the whole of Key Stage 5.
Students continue to be attached to a tutor, but the tutor groups are smaller than in the Lower School. There are six tutor groups in each of Year 12 and 13.
As well as registering students, acting as a conduit for vital information such as exam entries, and running the popular current affairs quiz on a Friday, tutors have an essential role in monitoring and supporting students. Sixth Form students will have regular one-to-one meetings with their tutor not only to discuss such matters as progression and careers, but also to examine their progress in their subjects in line with target A-level grades generated from their GCSE results.
Registration
Although schooling is no longer compulsory at post–16, students do still have to register. This is not only for health and safety reasons, in order for us to know who is on site, but also the registers are important evidence used for securing funding for the Sixth Form. Thus, in Year 12, we expect students to register with their tutors promptly at 8.30am. In Year 13 we will negotiate more flexible arrangements, but students still have to register with their tutors every day.
