During this course students receive an introduction to Engineering.

The qualification allows students to develop skills and understanding leading to a career path or further technical engineering qualifications, manufacturing and product design diplomas. The design and make projects build upon experience gained at Key Stage 3.
Students learn through a range of practical activities based on the AQA GCSE specification. These relate to different aspects of Engineering, such as practical competence in the use of tools, equipment and processes. You will develop knowledge and understanding of materials used in the manufacture of engineered products, identify health and safety issues, and plan sequences of operations.

The course consists of two units:

  • Unit1: Materials,Technologies and Design Considerations
  • Unit 2: Designing, Communicating and Manufacturing

These units include a client design brief, conversion of the client design brief to a specification, a design process to generate ideas, drawing techniques, CAD, use of tools and equipment, engineering processes, machine operations and the manufacture of a final product.
