Welcome to the Psychology and Sociology Dept.

Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions. Sociology’s subject matter is diverse, ranging from crime to religion, from the family to education, from the divisions of race and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture, and from social stability to radical change in whole societies. Sociology teaches us to think in a critical scientific way, and gives an understanding of broad aspects of social life, beyond our own limited experiences.

Bristol Crown Court Visit – In Year 13 students spend the day observing proceedings at Bristol Crown Court. They sit in on real court cases and attend a meeting with a circuit judge for a question and answer session. This complements their study of Crime and Deviance in Module 4.
