Ski Trip 2008

In February the school took 42 students and 6 staff away to Kloisters in Switzerland. Those of you who know skiing resorts in Europe will be impressed, as this is one of the most exclusive resorts in the world.  Lots of ‘A’ list celebrities and royalty use the resort as it is quiet and beautiful. We were lucky enough to see a minor celebrity, but an extremely rich man Peter Jones from the television show Dragons Den, I’m sure his family and friends appreciated the quiet slopes, as our groups skied past and shouted “Peter I’ve got an idea, can I have £50,000!”.

During the trip we went to an awesome swimming pool with diving board and outdoor pool - which was heated I’m glad to say. We had a Bowling, Pizza and Ice skating evening, but the most favourite was Miss Switzerland 2008 and games night. To truly understand the wonders of this evening you must wait until the pictures arrive on the website. Congratulations must go to Mr Shayler and Scott Davie who won the staff and students ski races respectively.

The ski trip was a huge success this year and was a valuable and worthwhile learning experience for staff and students alike. I can honestly say that the students' behaviour was impeccable for the entire duration of the trip, and for that I thank them. The trip is a real headache to organise at times, however it helped by having well behaved students and 5 hardworking and committed members staff, without whom trips like this couldn’t be organised. Mike Saunders has organised ski trips at Nailsea since the dawn of time, however this year after his knee operation, he couldn’t ski. However that didn’t stop him paragliding off a mountain, a treat which was paid for by students and staff who wanted to thank him for his hard work on this trip and previous trips. He must like punishment, as he is organising the trip next year.

Unfortunately the trip for 2009 is already fully booked and there are students on the waiting list.  If you are still interested and would like to go on the waiting list please pick up a letter from reception or via the school website.
