Numeracy Week
Week beginning Monday 3rd December 2007
This week is Numeracy week across the school. It is the first of two such weeks that focus on cross-curricular numeracy.
The main idea of the week is for all teachers to highlight the importance of numeracy in their subjects by doing a little bit of number work in their lessons. |

At lunchtimes during the week, the Maths Faculty will be running games, workshops and activities to promote the fun side of maths. There will be a strong focus on spatial mathematics in the workshops with sessions on designing and building bridges using ICT, plans and elevations and origami. Similar workshops were a huge success in the last Numeracy Week, and students were able to see how maths is used in practical situations in everyday life as well as how it can be used artistically.
Tutors will be updated every morning so that they are able to inform students of what’s going to be running that day. Overall we’re sure the week is going to be an enjoyable one for all involved.
For a taster, why not have a go at these puzzles....
