Nailsea School Media Showcases in October and November

We hold our annual Media Showcase in the school hall on Wednesday 18th October starting at 7pm.  This is a celebration of the film and print work of our current Year 13 Students.  The best examples will go forward to The North Somerset Schools Media Showcase at The Curzon Cinema, Clevedon on Sunday 12th November.

This prestigious event was a huge success last year.  Conceived and organised by Nailsea School, it offers a forum for North Somerset Students to exhibit their work publicly and compete for some seriously desirable prizes donated by sponsors Western Computers.

Admission to the Showcase of Media Talent is free, but note this is a Black Tie event.  Please arrive at the School Hall at 6.30 for 7pm.

New School for Nailsea:

Nailsea School has been chosen to lead the way in developing schools for the future. We have been selected for the Building Schools for the Future Pathfinder Project.

The DfES will provide nearly £28 million for Nailsea to have a completely new, purpose built, school fit to deliver a first class education for students in the 21st century.  The schedule at this stage is for completion by September 2009, so that our current Year 7 will start their GCSE courses in our new accommodation.

The staff and Governors are very excited about this project and the opportunity it gives us to design a school to deliver the curriculum instead of trying to fit the curriculum into the accommodation we have.  We will obviously make sure that there is no detriment to the education of students already in the school and will use this opportunity to improve and enhance their experience.

Although the timescale is very short we will be consulting with students, parents and all our stakeholders to ensure that the new school can serve the needs of Nailsea as a truly extended services, community school.
